The math is public: we weigh in front of you, multiply the gram weight by the karat purity factor (10K = 0.4167, 14K = 0.5833, 18K = 0.7500, 22K = 0.9167, 24K ≈ 0.999), multiply by the live spot price per gram, and pay you that figure minus our 10–15% margin. - Why is your price better than a pawn shop or jewelry store?
- Storefronts pay 30 to 60 percent below spot because they have retail overhead, inventory costs, and a model that depends on selling at retail later. - What's the difference between 10K, 14K, 18K, and 24K gold?
- The karat number tells you how much pure gold is in the alloy. 24K is essentially 99.9% pure (too soft for most jewelry). 22K is 91.7%. 18K is 75%. 14K is 58.3% (the U.S. jewelry standard). 10K is 41.7%. We pay for the actual gold content — so a 10-gram 18K piece pays out for 7.5 grams of pure gold, while a 10-gram 14K piece pays for 5.83 grams.
